From the title of this post, you may be thinking that my account was spammed. But, If you saw my post the other day, you saw where my wife had dropped her iPhone 4s in the toilet. We quickly took it out (by we, I mean her!…ewww) and put it in a zip lock bag of rice. I’ve always heard that works, so we thought we’d give it a try. After three days in the rice, the phone still wouldn’t turn on and the flash would stay on if it was plugged in. Anyway, I just figured I would take it to the Apple store to see how much money and pain a repair would be. I was thinking it might be better if they just through the phone at my face, which would probably be less painful than what a repair cost would be. To my delight, they took the phone in the back and came back with some good news. The worker said that only 1 of the 3 wet sensors had been tripped, therefore they would replace it for free since we hadn’t had it longer than a year. She said that if more than 1 of the 3 sensors were tripped, it would be $199 to replace (which is still better than the $550 we thought it would have been….which we would not have paid!!) If the phone is over 1 year old, then it would still be $199 to replace no matter how many sensors are tripped. SO, I thought I’d pass along that little bit of info to you guys in case your wife enjoys reading blogs on the toilet too. I doubt putting the phone in rice reversed any of the wet sensors, so I wish we would have taken it up there right away….but lesson learned.
